No plans to change coal handling expansion at Mormugao port: CM Manohar Parrikar

Panaji, January 3: Taking a firm stand on the move of coal handling expansion at Mormugao port Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that state government is not in favor of the expansion of the coal handling capacity.

Speaking to the media, Parrikar clarified that state government does not have any issues with the expansion of the berth, but have some reservations on handling capacity. The Chief Minister reiterated that state government would not change its policy on coal handling facility.

Various reports were surfaced about the alleged expansion plan of private companies at MPT. According to media reports, the expert appraisal committee (EAC) has recommended the proposed terminal capacity enhancement of berth 5 and 6 of Mormugao Port Trust.
