Finding a washroom? Take out your mobile and search on Google maps

Ranchi, January 4: Now no need to ask anyone for public toilet location as Jharkhand has mapped all of its Public/Community Toilets and Toilets in Malls, Petrol Pumps, Restaurants etc. on Google maps across 41 cities.

The initiative is being taken under Swachh Sarvekshan. There is a parameter under which location details of public and community toilets have to be available on the Google locator. Location of toilets at malls, markets, petrol pumps and bus stands would be available. People can find information about whether the toilet is an Indian- or western-style one, whether it is free, and when it is open.

 

Currently, there are about 4000 toilets that have been displayed on the Google Maps interface which can be searched either from your Android or iOS Maps app or using the desktop. Till now 1,117 locations of "Swachh Public Toilets" have now gone live in the state. This will help the state to be Open Defecation Free (ODF).

When you search for a public toilet on Google Maps in an area where the service is available, you’ll see a list of the restrooms near you, including the respective address and opening hours.

Users have the ability to rate and review the toilets, include suggestions and will also find photographs to judge the cleanliness before going there.
