Suicide Bomber hits mosque in Nigeria’s Borno state

Abuja, January 4: Terrorism keeps tormenting African countries especially Somalia, Nigeria. Again Suicide bomber has taken away 11 lives in Borno state. The attack hit a mosque in northeastern Nigeria, near the border with Cameroon.

The attacker blew himself up during dawn prayers in a mosque on Wednesday evening. Though the officials confirmed of 11 deaths but the death toll is likely to rise later. "Only the muezzin has survived and we believe more bodies are buried under the debris," Umar Kachalla, a civilian militiaman, told.

Though no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, Boko Haram is on the eye. The terror group is not only active in the area but also carries out such suicide bombing attack very often.

The mosque was totally burnt and destroyed when aid workers reached. When they came to evacuation of the people, they saw 11 corpses, with the suicide bomber making the total number of dead 12.

In last week also, Maiduguri went under an attack where 25 people lost their lives. The extremist group has killed around 20,000 people and displaced more than 2.6 million since launching an Islamist insurgency in Nigeria's northeast in 2009.
