Polavaram project won’t affect Odisha Tribal : Jual Oram

New Delhi, January 5: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram has clarified that national irrigation project of Polavaram will not have any adverse effect on tribal families from Odisha.
Responding to the query raised by the CPI leader D Raja, Oram informed that 17,444 tribal people of north Andhra Pradesh will be displaced. He further added that states like Odisha and Chhattisgarh will not be affected by the ambitious multipurpose irrigation project of Chandra Babu led TDP government.
Polavaram is the most awaited multi-purpose irrigation project which has been accorded national project status by the Union government under Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation act.
