Telangana to address water crisis in Tungabhadra region of Karnataka

Hyderabad, January 5: In order to mitigate the acute water crisis in the Tungabhadra region of Karnataka, Telangana government has agreed to fulfill the requirement of Karnataka with the help of Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme. On Thursday, Karnataka state delegation which includes Water Resources Minister M B Patil called on, Telangana T Harish Rao who looks after the Water Resources department and briefed about the ground situation.

Speaking to the media, Karnataka minister said that Telangana government has responded positively and official will take the final call after due consultation with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Patil expressed that urgent intervention would resolve the burning issue of drinking water and irrigation demands of the Tungabhadra region.

Patil assured that Karnataka would extend all the support required for the modernization works of Rajolibanda diversion scheme. On this occasion, Karnataka education minister Tanveer Sait, Labour minister Santosh S Lad, Karnataka MLAs and Telangana special chief secretary SK Joshi were present at the meeting.
