Riverfronts of Uttarakhand will see a developing bud to boost tourism

Dehradun, January 5: Like Gujarat, Uttarakhand is also planning to rejuvenate its riverfronts to boost the tourism in the state. It is being planned to develop riverfronts at Haridwar and Rishikesh. The main aim is to make these spots more attractive to pull more and more tourists towards it.

 

Also, Trivendra Singh Rawat-led government wants to revive the dying Rispana River, one of the major sources of water for Dehradun, on the lines of the Sabarmati riverfront, where a seaplane carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi had landed during the recent poll campaign.

 

Towards this end, a team from Uttarakhand would visit Gujarat shortly to study the model they had adopted for Sabarmati, as per the reports. , CM Rawat had visited the Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad during his recent visit to Gujarat. He said that Uttarakhand would follow the model adopted in beautifying this lake. The state government aims to develop numerous lakes in Tehri, Nainital and other areas of the state as attractive tourist places.

 
 
CM Rawat said that developing the riverfronts of these spots will help the tourists to gets better facilities and also will a beautification to the spots. Haridwar and Rishikesh are not only spiritual or religious but also are vital in terms of tourism.
 
Chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said, “The Rispana riverfront will be similar to the one in Sabarmati. The first step that the Gujarat government did was to revive the river and clear its bank of encroachments. We will also select rivers and lakes across Uttarakhand where these models can be implemented. The CM had earlier given instructions to prepare an action plan to develop lakes along the lines of the Kankaria Lake that has an amusement park, food stalls and a toy train.”
