A grand kick off start to the festive season, International Kite Fest begins with great enthusiasm

Ahmedabad, January 8: Kicking off the week long Kite festival, Gujarat saw its first day of colorful and mesmerizing skies. Covered with humungous and intriguing kites the city of Ahmedabad has hosted the International Kite Festival as part of the official celebration of Uttarayan begins from 7th January and ends on 15th January.


 

The international kite festival in India is held in Gujarat every year on the occasion of Makar sankranti. It is a medium to attract tourism in the state. Every year the festival takes place in Ahmedabad from 7th to 15th of January and a large number of kite flyers from different parts of the country as well as from a number of other countries in the world participate in it.

Visitors come from around India for the celebration; many Gujarati’s who live outside the state choose this time to make their trip home. International visitors come from countless countries, including Japan, Canada, Brazil, Australia, the USA, Malaysia, Singapore, and many more.

Bringing master kite makers and flyers from all over the world, the festive demonstrates their unique creations and wows the crowds with highly unusual kites. Gujarat celebrates all its festival with same enthusiasm and love. Their friendly nature attracts lot of visitors and tourists and this proves the state to be on top for tourist attraction.

The festival of Uttarayan is a uniquely Gujarati phenomenon, when the skies over most cities of the state fill with kites from before dawn until well after dark. The state government sponsored festival will culminate on January 14 which is celebrtated as Uttarayan. The festival will help boost to the kite industry which will help employ over 3 lakh people.
