Idlib, January 8: At least 23 people including 16 terrorists and 7 civilians were killed while ten others were injured in a car bomb blast that took place at a base for Asian militants in northwestern Syria’s Idlib city on Sunday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman said that a large explosion on Sunday evening hit the base of the Ajnad al-Qawqaz faction in Idlib in which 23 peoples were killed including civilians. He also said that most of the terrorists belonged to Ajnad al-Qawqaz terror group were killed in the blast while ten others were injured.

However, the death toll may increase as several of the injured are in critical conditions. None of the terror group has claimed the responsibility yet. While some residents blame the Islamic State group for such attacks, although the group has no open presence in the province.

The Ajnad al-Qawqaz group includes hundreds of Caucasian fighters and is battling alongside the Fateh al-Sham Front, a former Al-Qaeda affiliate, to outclass a Syrian regime that is advanced in the southeast of Idlib province. Importantly, the Idlib province is dominated by the Levant Liberation Committee, which claims to have severed ties with al-Qaida but is widely believed to still be affiliated with it.

Interestingly, the Islamic State terrorist organization is witnessing historic fall in Syria as the US-led coalition armed forces continue to eradicate them from the country. Syria is affected by the civil war since many years due to which thousands of civilians lost their lives while millions were displaced.
