Patna, January 9: To take out citizens from the grip of addiction, Bihar has banned electronic cigarettes in the state. From manufacture, distribution, sale, purchase, display and advertisement to online purchase of e-cigarettes has been banned. manufacture, distribution, sale, purchase, display, and advertisement also stand banned. An e-cigarette is a handheld electronic device that tries to create the feeling of tobacco smoking.

Notification in this regard was issued it to all assistant drug controllers (ADCs) and drug inspectors to ensure strict enforcement. Apart from e-cigarettes the manufacture, distribution, trade, sale, purchase, display and advertisement of all tobacco products and items containing nicotine has also been banned in the state.

An electronic cigarette is a handheld electronic device that tries to create the feeling of tobacco smoking. It works by heating a liquid to generate an aerosol, commonly called a "vapor", that the user inhales. Using e-cigarettes is sometimes called vaping. The liquid in the e-cigarette, called e-liquid is usually made of nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerine, and flavorings. Though these are safer than tobacco ones but health risks are associated with these also.
