India is transforming as next global business destination: PM Modi at Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas event

New Delhi, January 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary Conference, said that India is transforming and will see the result of change in every sphere.

Addressing the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas event this morning, PM Modi said, they can help attract more Foreign Direct Investment to India by spreading India's growth story globally. He said, a record 16 billion dollars of FDI came into the country in the recent past.

 

PM Modi said, his government has made far-reaching policy changes, with reform and transform being its guiding principle.

The Prime Minister said, India has moved far ahead and people can see the results of change in every sphere. He said, GST is a huge reform and government has eliminated multiple taxation system.

He also said, the government is committed to eradicating corruption focussing on infrastructure and transport. He conveyed to the persons of Indian origin that the values of Indian culture and civilisation can guide a world gripped in increasing instability.

The Prime Minister said that Indian diaspora across the world were true and permanent ambassadors of the country. He said that in whichever part of the world Indians went, they not only retained their Indianness but also integrated the lifestyle of that nation.

The PM remarked that aspirations of India’s youth and their optimism about the country were at the highest levels. He said that systems were not only being transformed but an irreversible change was visible in host of sectors.

India is first to respond to international crises including the earthquake in Nepal, the Sri Lankan floods and the water problems in the Maldives. "When crisis struck Yemen, we saved our 4,500 people as well as 2000 others. India's humanity even in grave situations like these is a part of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," he added.
