Uttarakhand flags off test run of state’s first electric bus

Dehradun, October 10: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off the test run of the state’s first electric bus today. The Electric Vehicle Policy was framed by the Uttarakhand Government to encourage the operation of pollution-free vehicles in the state.


 

In the recent Investors Summit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of 700 crore rupees was signed for the operation of electric buses in the state. In this connection a bus has been provided by a Hyderabad based company for test run on Dehradun-Mussoorie and Haldwani-Nainital road for one month. The low floor bus with 30 seats is equipped with CCTV, GPS, Panic Button and Air Suspension.

The 30-seater low-floor bus is equipped with CCTV cameras, GPS, panic button and air suspension, it said further.

In a tweet of CM Trivendra Singh Rawat said, “will promote innovative means of transport for the liberation from Pollution. The State's first electric bus trial was carried Out. 700 crore has been MoU to run electric buses in the state in investors Summit ₹. 51 electric buses by UTC dehradun-lentil, Haldwani-nainital will be on the Route.”

 

January this year, the Goa state Government inaugurated an electric bus for passengers, as part of its commitment towards the environmental friendly public transport.
