Empowering women, EC will set up pink polling booths for Assembly elections

New Delhi, October 10: Empowering women like always the Election Commission will set up all women- managed polling stations for each of the assembly constituencies in the poll bound states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana.

 

The Commission said, the entire polling staff including the police and security personnel, will be women. This is aimed at ensuring gender equality and greater constructive participation of women in the electoral process.

This is not the first time, earlier, the Election Commission had assigned women engaged polling stations during the Karnataka elections. The pink polling booths address the work assigned to them. It has undoubtedly been one of the biggest success in the coming time.

Moreover, the Electronic Voting Machines and Postal Ballot Papers will have photographs of the candidates in poll-bound States. According to Election Commission, this will help avoid any confusion about the candidates contesting the election similar names in the same constituency. The Commission has directed the candidates to submit their recent Stamp Size photograph to the Returning Officers.

The Election Commission chalked dates for the five states namely Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. The election will begin from November 12 and the results will be out on December 11. The model code of conduct, imposing restrictions for free and fair elections, was enforced as the announcement was made by Election Commissioner OP Rawat.
