Centre’s discriminatory attitude ruining Andhra Pradesh: Chandrababu Naidu to 15th Finance Commission

Amaravati, Oct 11: Expressing displeasure over Centre’s discriminatory attitude towards Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today urged Fifteenth Finance Commission to address the financial hitches being faced by the state government.

Under the Chairmanship of N.K. Singh, members of Finance Commission today called on Chief Minister Naidu at the state secretariat here. The panel is currently on a two-day visit to AP.

 

 
 
During this interaction, Babu said that national parties like Congress and BJP did great injustice to the coastal state. He mentioned that the unscientific bifurcation engineered by Congress and now non-cooperation of BJP government has stalled the development process of the newly crafted state.

Briefing about capital city Amaravati, Naidu alleged that central government is deliberately ignoring the vital project. He requested BJP government to release the grants of at least Rs 9000 crore for basic infrastructure and other necessary stuff.

Accusing center of betraying people of Andhra Pradesh, the TDP National President claimed that Modi government is not keen on fulfilling the 18 promises under the AP Reorganization Act.

Citing fund crunch, Naidu sought an exemption from the provision of Viability Gap fund and urged the central panel to pursue the matter for the hassle-free construction of Petro Chemical Complex at Kakinada. The Chief Minister also demanded the financial aid of Rs 22,250 crore for the development of the backward districts.

On several platforms, Chandra Babu and other officials of the AP government had opposed the proposed change in the base year. According to Naidu, new base year policy will have adverse impact on progressive states.
