Third party reaction unnecessary, accused should first respond to the allegations: Kamal Haasan on #MeToo

Chennai, Oct 12: Days after singer Chinmayi Sripaada’s revelation on Tamil Lyrists Vairamuthu, actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Kamal Haasan today backed the #MeToo movement that has taken the whole country by storm.

For the first time, reacting to the stories of sexual harassment by film industry veterans, Haasan said that there is nothing wrong in women coming out with shocking events that may have taken place in the past. He observed that third-party reaction would not address the cause of# MeToo. The ace actor articulated that respective accused should first respond to the allegations.

Celebrated Singer and Voice artist Chinmayi Sripaada on Tuesday opened up about veteran Tamil Lyricist Vairamuthu’s alleged attempt of molestation. Vairamuthu has penned the iconic song "Gnyabagam Varugiradha "from Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam.

On several occasion, the maverick actor had voiced concern against the atrocities against the women in the filmdom. In August, Kamal lambasted at Malayalam film body over the induction of rape accused actor Dilip.
