Kamal Haasan confirms Thevar Magan sequel

Chennai, Oct 17: The stage is set for the sequel of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan’s classical movie Thevar Magan. The actor-politician who is busy with Makkal Needhi Maiam’s political engagements has decided to recreate the award-winning Tamil drama.

In his recent interaction with Thanthi TV, the ace actor revealed the plans of Thevar Magan 2. The Tamil movie was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film for the year 1992.Haasan’s Thevar Magan received flaked for glorifying Thevars, a dominant community in Tamil Nadu.

The village drama was Written and bankrolled by Kamal Haasan whereas legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja scored the tunes. The project was helmed by veteran Malayalam filmmaker Bharathan. According to Buzz, the sequel will be produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raajkamal banner with the target of 2020 release.

In Thevar Magan, Kamal shared the screen space with the yesteryears star Sivaji Ganesan. The movie narrates the conflict between two brothers. Later, director Priyadarshan remade Thevar Magan in Hindi with title Virasat.
