According to media reports, Manvendra Singh was annoyed with the state leadership. In 2013 assembly polls, the 54- year leader got elected from Barmer’s Sheo assembly segment. During a public meeting, Manvendra openly admitted that joining hands with BJP was his biggest political mistake.

Taking a dig at Manvendra Singh's move, Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that Jaswant Singh spent his entire life fighting with Congress. Speaking to the media, Rathore said that Congress party did little for the Rajput community but BJP gave crucial portfolios like Finance and Defence to veteran Jaswant Singh.
