Andhra Pradesh to float Special Purpose Vehicle for Polavaram funds

Vijayawada, Oct 2: Amidst the strained relations between Centre and Andhra Pradesh government, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to constitute a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in order to meet the deadlines of Polavaram Irrigation Project.

Chairing the 76th visual review meeting here, Naidu assured that the state government will take all possible steps to ensure the hassle-free rollout of the national project. He advised stakeholders to ordinate with the respective financial institution in order to address ongoing fund crunch.

Commenting on the progress of construction work, Babu asked officials to recover the backlog of a rainy season. He noted that pending works should be completed by December.

The Chief Minister asked Polavaram officials to coordinate with the central government to get necessary permissions. On this occasion, Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Irrigation Secretary Sasibushan Kumar, and other officials were present.
