New Delhi, October 22: As the whole of India was reeling under massive relief of reduction in fuel price, 400 petrol pumps in Delhi have shut down as a protest against the AAP government. All 400 fuel pumps in the national capital are closed because of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government’s refusal to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel and petrol in the national capital.

The 400 petrol pumps along with linked CNG dispensing units remained shut in the national capital today in protest against Delhi government's refusal to reduce VAT on fuels. In a statement, the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association said, the pumps will remain closed till 5am tomorrow.

The central government had slashed the rate of petrol and diesel by 2 rupees 50 paise per litre each last month and it was followed by reduction of VAT by various states including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. However, the Delhi government refused to reduce VAT. As a result fuel became more expensive in Delhi than the two bordering states.

BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said Arvind Kejriwal government is not at all trying to help the common public. Talking to media in New Delhi, Meenakshi Lekhi said even petrol pump owners are facing problems as most people are filling their tanks in NCR regions.
