Sharing strong values by attending Annual Bilateral Summit, PM Modi embarks on a three day visit to Japan

New Delhi, October 27: With the agenda of attending the Annual Bilateral Summit with his counterpart Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on a three day visit to Japan. This will be PM Modi’s twelfth meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe since his first visit to Japan.

PM Modi has will be visiting the robotics and automation firm FANUC in Yamanashi and meet business leaders. PM Modi will be showcasing India as an attractive investment destination to the Japanese investors and address a “Make-in-India” event in Tokyo, besides participating in a community reception, to be attended by the Indian diaspora in Japan.

 

This visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Japan is expected to propel the strong bilateral ties to a new orbit, as the strategic, defence, investment and cultural ties between the two nations are witnessing robust growth in recent years. Both the countries are working on forging closer ties in maritime domain awareness in the Indian Ocean, and also in providing mutual logistic support in the Indo-Pacific region. During the summit meeting between the two leaders of Asia’s biggest economies, many Memoranda of Understanding are also expected to be signed.

 

Addressing a statement before his departure to Japan, PM Modi expressed that India and Japan share close bilateral relations as both have a Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Our ties with Japan, both economic and strategic, stand completely transformed in recent years. It is today a partnership of great substance and purpose. It rests on the strong pillars of India’s Act East Policy, and our shared vision and commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

Japan is considered to be one of the most trusted partners in India’s economic and technological modernisations and one of the top investors in India. Projects like Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail and Dedicated Freight Corridors reflect the high level and strength of our economic engagement. Japan is also at the forefront of engaging in our national initiatives, such as ‘Make in India’, ‘Skill India’, ‘Digital India’, ‘Start Up India’, etc.

Japanese investors have faith in India’s economic future, which is marked with myriad opportunities. With this India values Japan’s global leadership in innovation, technologies and best practices. During this visit, PM Modi will see some of Japan’s high-tech capabilities in robotics.

PM Modi’s interactions will help to further strengthen our trade and investment ties, and cooperation in new areas, such as healthcare, digital technologies, agriculture and food processing, disaster risk reduction and disaster resilient infrastructure.
