Netflix tops in global bandwidth consumption

Dubai, Oct 3: After the emergence of internet-based social media or digital media, streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime YouTube has refined the pattern of content consumption globally.

 

Recently published Sandvine's Global Internet Phenomena Report suggested that the Netflix is the number one platform which commands the 15 percent traffic of global internet.

The downstream platform also cemented its top position in the midst of other Over-the-top media services like Amazon Prime and YouTube, reveals report.

The reports further stated that near about 58% of traffic is linked with online Videos. The streaming video includes not only over-the-top (OTT) video streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime, but also operator-based streaming and direct consumer streaming.

According to the latest statistics, besides Netflix, HTTP media streams has its share of 13.1 percent, YouTube with 11.4 percent and web-browsing and MPEG transport has the penetration of 7.8 percent and 4.4 percent respectively.
