Donate blood and get 4 leaves extra: Jharkhand govt to its employees

Ranchi, October 3: In order to promote voluntary blood donation among its employees, Jharkhand Government has decided to sanction four special casual leaves in a year to its employees for donating blood voluntarily on working days. The announcement came on the National Voluntary Blood Donation day on Monday.


 

Jharkhand required 3,50,000 units of blood per annum whereas it collects only 1,90,000 units of blood, the release said.

In an attempt to motivate government employees, the state health, education and family welfare department has decided to sanction four special casual leave in lieu of donation of blood voluntarily on working days.

Meanwhile, around 775 units of blood was collected during a blood donation camp organised by the Red Cross here on Monday.

National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is getting celebrated in India at 1st of October every year to share the need and importance of the blood in the life of an individual. It was first started celebrating on 1st of October in the year 1975 through the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology. Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology was first established at 22nd of October in the year 1971 under the leadership of Mrs. K. Swaroop Krishen and Dr. J.G. Jolly.
