Jharkhand sends 800 senior citizens for pilgrimage

Ranchi, October 30: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das Monday flagged off a train carrying 800 elderly people on pilgrimage to Puri as part of a state government scheme. The Jharkhand government introduced the Mukhya Mantri Tirth Darshan Yojana in 2016 and over 5000 pilgrims have availed the scheme till now, an official release said.


 

"It is the duty of every son to take his parents on the pilgrimage. I too am discharging my duty as the son of Jharkhand by sending elderly poor people on pilgrimage," CM Das said before flagging off the train from Hatia station.

One member of each family of the elderly person is accompanying them, he said.

The chief minister said the state government will send poor people to Kumbhmela also on government expense.

The Chief Minister said that in this episode, children of state government school children are being taken on an educational journey. This will have their intellectual development. They will also develop morale like children of private schools. A large number of students have got the benefit of this scheme.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das appealed to the people to participate in the Run for Unity on October 31 and said that Sardar Patel threaded the country in the form of unity. This race is being organized to keep the country together in the form of unity on their birth anniversary. We have to share in this race and give message of unity.
