#MeToo movement: Union Minister Maneka Gandhi assures strict action against culprits

New Delhi, Oct 9: Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi today assured that strict action will be taken against those who are involved in the heinous crime of sexual harassment.

As quoted by India Today responding to the charges on MoS and veteran journalist M J Akbar, the Minister stated that respective investigative agencies will take necessary action in order to address the plights of the women.

Earlier, Lauding the efforts of women for voicing against the social evil, Maneka said #MeToo movement will shatter the ugly characters of men who are in power and position. The Minister also launched a digital redressal platform to register official plea against the sexual harassment at workplace.

Days after the horrifying #MeToo stories from the field of cinema, journalist Priya Ramani accused veteran editor and Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar of misconduct during her initial days of journalism.
