Gandhinagar, October 9: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has said that all those elements who attacked people from other states have been promptly arrested within hours. Speaking to media persons at Rajkot, he assured of police protection saying that adequate security is being provided to them.

CM Rupani said that it has been the characteristic and tradition of Gujarat and the Gujaratis to consider people from other states as their own - all living together in peace and in an atmosphere of harmony and bonhomie. He appealed to all to maintain peace and harmony in the state.

Later criticizing the Congress party, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that they first incite violence against migrants.

Referring to the tweets of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, CM Rupani said that if the Congress President is against the violence in Gujarat, he should take action against its own members who incited violence against the migrants in Gujarat.

Meanwhile, state Chief Secretary J. N. Singh held a meeting with all the district collectors and Superintendent of Police last evening through video conference in the wake of the incidents of attacks on north Indians. DGP, Law Secretary and Revenue Secretary were also present in the meeting.

Singh said that situation is now under control as no big incident has been reported in the state during the last 48 hours. He said that so far 431 hooligans have been booked in connection with 54 such cases.
