Mrunal Thakur to reprise iconic Sivagami in Baahubali Netflix web series

Mumbai, Nov 14: Actress Mrunal Thakur has been roped in for the iconic role of Sivagami in upcoming Netflix series Baahubali: Before the Beginning. On Friday during Netflix conference, makers officially announced the cast of the much-anticipated prequel web series to SS Rajamouli's Baahubali franchise.

Versatile actor Rahul Bose will essay the role of a character named Skandadasa. Besides Mrunal Thakur and Rahul Bose, the prestigious project has an ensemble star cast which includes Atul Kulkarni, Vaquar Shaikh, Jameel Khan, Siddharth Arora, and Anup Soni. Mrunal Thakur was last seen in film Love Sonia based on the issue of Human trafficking and Rahul Bose was Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2

The Netflix web series 'Baahubali: Before the Beginning' will present the intriguing backstories from Mahishmati kingdom. It will trace the journey of Rajamat Sivagami, a pivotal character donned by the actress Ramya Krishnan.

Based on Anand Neelakantan’s The Rise of Sivagami, Shobu Yarlagadda’s Arka Media Works, the production company behind Baahubali series will back the digital venture. Two talented directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru from Telugu filmdom will assist Rajamouli.

India’s first highest grosser, Baahubali: The Conclusion is the brainchild of Veteran Writer V Vijayendra Prasad, father of legendary director SS Rajamauli. The Prabhas starrer two-part magnum opus was originally shot in Telugu and Tamil and dubbed in Hindi and Malayalam. The film also features actor Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, Subba Raju in pivotal roles. The epic drama was bankrolled by Arka Media Works, the leading production house down south helmed by Producer Shobu Yarlagadda.
