New Delhi, November 14: Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will now hold the charge of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs following the demise of Union Minister Ananth Kumar. President Ram Nath Kovind has assigned the charge to Minister Tomar on the advice of PM Modi.


 

While Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadanand Gowda has been given the charge of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in addition to his existing portfolio.

The move was necessitated following the demise of Ananth Kumar on Monday. He was holding the charge of both the ministries of parliamentary affairs and chemicals and fertilisers.

The mortal remains of Union Minister HN Ananth Kumar were cremated with full state and military honours on Tuesday. The Union Cabinet held a special meeting to pass a resolution

The 59-year-old Bengaluru South Lok Sabha member died of lung cancer early on Monday morning. His brother HN Nanda Kumar performed the last rites according to Smartha Brahmin rituals at the Chamarajpet crematorium.

The Union Cabinet expressed profound sorrow at the sad demise of Ananthkumar, In a Resolution passed at a special Cabinet Meeting, and the Cabinet noted that in his passing away, the Nation has lost an experienced leader. The Cabinet met on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the Government and the entire nation.
