Mumbai, Nov 16: Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission headed retired Justice MD Gaikwad
today submitted the much-awaited report on Maratha Reservation to Maharashtra Chief Secretary.
The Fadnavis government will take the final call on the long pending demand of the Maratha community. Marathas are pitching for 16% quota in education and jobs. The report will be submitted to the Bombay High Court.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that within 15 days, the state government will present the legal framework for Maratha reservation.
When asked about the much-anticipated report of Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission, the Chief Minister assured that the BJP government is fully committed to the welfare of Maratha Community. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also refuted the media reports on the findings of the state-appointed panel.

During 2014 Maharashtra assembly polls, then Congress-NCP government had announced the reservation for politically dominated Maratha Community but it was overturned by the High Court.
Later, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission to study the feasibility of the Maratha reservation and other legal aspects in order to address the issue raised by the Maratha community.
The BJP-led NDA government was at the receiving end for allegedly delaying the demands of the Maratha community, having a share on 33% in the population.
