Nilakkal, Nov 19: Launching a frontal attack on Kerala government, Union Minister KJ Alphons said that none other than Chief Minister P Vijayan is responsible for the ongoing Sabarimala rucks. The Tourism Minister threw the gauntlet at LDF led state government over the imposition of Section 144.

Speaking to the media, the Rajya Sabha MP said that atrocities against devotees indicate the poor law and order in the state. He also questioned Vijayan for deploying 15000 policemen to control Lord Ayyappa devotees. Comparing Sabarimala developments to the emergency, Alphons said, “Devotees are not terrorists so why Section 144? ”

On Sunday, Police blocked the entry of more than a hundred devotees which sparked the fresh protest against the police action. Following the development, 68 people were taken into custody.

Reacting to the developments, the Kerala High Court expressed concern over the and rapped the Kerala government for the excessive presence of police at Sabarimala. The High court directed officials to ensure proper arrangements instead of harassing pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Citing the reason of insufficient infrastructure and violent protest against the ruling, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) sought more time for the implementing of SC ruling on Sabarimala temple. The petition was filed through advocate Chandra Uday Singh.
