Keshav Srushti (Mumbai), Nov 2: The Supreme Court decision on Ramjanmabhumi Ayodhya issue has hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindus and they feel insulted, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryawah Suresh alias Bhayyaji Joshi Friday.

Addressing press persons at Keshav Srushti, Bhayandar here today at the end of the three-day meeting of the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (ABKM) the Sarkaryawah said that the Hindus are anguidshed and pained at this decision of the apex court.

The three-member bench of the Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the title suit on Ramjanmasthan Ayodhya till January citing they have “other priorities”. Joshi said that though it is the prerogative of the court to decide the date for announcing verdict, this decision to postpone this for a long time again has hurt the Hindus and they feel anguished and disheartened at this decision of the court, he said.

He said that the Ramjanmasthan issue is a matter of faith for crores of Hindus, is a sensitive issue and the courts should have decided it with all priorities. The Hindu society has been agitating for the Ramjanmasthan for last three decades and is expecting that all hurdles in having a grand Ram Temple at the birth place of Lord Ram would be removed. But this wait has become too long now.

The High Court had delivered its verdict on this issue in 2010. Since 2011 this matter is pending in the Supreme Court. The three-member bench of the Supreme Court was hearing this matter and they deferred this matter for such a long time on the pretext of having “other priorities”. Since the matter was listed for hearing on October 29, the Hindus felt that they would get good news before Diwali, Bhayyaji Joshi said adding that the apex court’s refusal to hear the matter has pained them.

He said that the Supreme Court should rethink on its decision in this matter. He added that the society should always honor the courts and the courts should also respect the feelings and emotions of the common people. On the issue of legislation or ordinance on Ramjanmasthan issue, Bhayyaji Joshi said that this was the right of the government when to think of it. He reminded that the Narasimha Rao government had given an affidavit that in case the archaeological evidences prove the existence of temple; the government would assist in construction of a temple there. Now, the archaeological evidences submitted by the archaeology department in the court, it has been proved beyond doubt that a temple had existed there. As such no one should have any objection for building a temple there, he added.

He said that they are not pressurizing the government on the issue of Ram Temple but favoring a solution by consensus by talking to revered saints to strike a solution. He said that it is difficult for the government to take any decision on ordinance unless the Supreme Court takes a decision on the matter. The government should consider this as last option when all other options have run out, he added. However, also urged the court to understand the feelings of the masses and sensitivity of the issue and rethink on their decision.

Commenting on the Sabarimalai temple issue Bhayyaji Joshi said that we would have supported this had it been limited to entry to women in the temples. No puja is complete sans husband or wife in Hindu society. There is no discrimination in the Hindu society as male and female. But temples do have their own code of conduct. No society is governed by the rights alone. There are traditions and conventions. Women should get entry into all temples but the decision should be taken after due consultations with people associated with the management and system of those temples. The court should have achieved a consensus on this issue of all the concerned parties.

Discussing the ABKM meeting Bhayyaji Joshi said that the meeting reviewed the progress of Sangh work. He underlined that in the last six years the Sangh has made rapid strides by increasing the work by 1.5 times. Today 35,500 places have regular Sangh Shakhas and we have reached t 1400 new places as compared to last year. The total number of shakhas has reached to 55825 registering an increase of 2200 shakhas in the last one year, he added.

He said that the weekly ‘milan’ is held in 17000 villages regularly while the ‘monthly milan’ is held at 9000 places. The RSS is working at 61000 places. The strength of swayamsevaks grew by one lakh as compared to last year. The RSS has redesigned the geographical area of the country in taluka, block and mandal and presently out of the 56600 mandals, the RSS has its presence in 32000, he added.

The RSS conducts 1.70 lakh service projects in the country in rural, tribal and urban areas. These include 25 large hospitals, 12 blood banks, and over 50000 Ekal Vidyalayas besides first aid services and medical care to needy patients through the army of 10000 Arogya Rakshaks.

There are 0ver 20000 Self Help Groups of women being run by RSS in addition to hostels, coaching classes etc. Last year 30000 RSS swayamsevaks planted 13 lakh saplings at 2000 places and this will continue in the coming days also, he said. He added that the ABKM has taken the issue of environment and water conservation very seriously and in coming days constructive work will be done on these issues.
