Japan to witness the grand 4K release of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Muthu

Chennai/ Tokyo, Nov 21: Marking the 20th anniversary of Superstar Rajinikanth’s iconic film Muthu Kavithalayaa Productions has decided to re-release Muthu’s technologically upgraded version on 23rd November in Tokyo. Informing about the development, Kavithalayaa Productions took to Twitter and made an official announcement about the grand screening.

In 1998 with 30+ screens, Japanese audiences had witnessed Thalaiva’s swag in Muthu: Odoru Maharaja with Japanese Subtitles. Now, the Tamil movie has been restored and digitally enhanced to 4K with 5.1 surround sound. The distribution rights of Rajini’s path-breaking flick has been bagged by the leading Japanese firm Eden Entertainment.

In October 2006, the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in his address to the Japanese Parliament termed Muthu as a cultural ambassador between India and Japan.

Helmed by Tamil filmmaker K. S. Ravikumar, Muthu is a 1995 Tamil-language romantic drama film is an adaptation of the 1994 Malayalam-language film Thenmavin Kombath. The film stars Rajinikanth and Meena in lead roles where legendary A. R. Rahman is the music director.
