Mumbai, Nov 23: The tenure of Nashik Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe who is famous for speaking his mind has been curtailed by the state government. The Celebrated Maharashtra officer has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the planning department at Mantralaya.

The upright officer received flak from political class for his alleged dictatorial attitude. In February this year, Mundhe was entrusted with the responsibility of Nashik municipal commissioner. The 2005-batch IAS officer enjoys huge fan-following across Maharashtra. The poster boy of the anti-corruption drive, Mundhe grabbed the media spot with his unconventional approach toward civic administration.

Tukaram Mundhe’s stint as Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner did not go well with the local Public representatives across the party. In October 2016, annoyed with Mundhe’s style of functioning, the civic body had passed a no-confidence which later defied by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as the head of Urban Development department. Fadnavis did not bow down to political pressure mounted by the fellow inmates in the state assembly.

Following the row of Navi Mumbai Corporation, with new transfer order, Mundhe assumed the charge of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal.
