Chhattisgarh Encounters: Two Naxals killed; police personnel injured

Raipur, November 26: In Chhattisgarh, two Naxals were killed and a police personnel was injured in encounters in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district on Sunday.

 

Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said a combined squad of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) was cordoning off the jungles between Nilamadgu and Korinjed in Madded area, when it came under fire from the rebels.

A DRG jawan sustained a bullet injury in the neck.

He said the body of a Naxal was recovered alongwith one .303 rifle and one muzzle-loading gun from the spot after the retailiating firing from combind squad was over.

The SP said in another encounter in a forest near Borje village in Gangaloor area the body of a Naxal along with two rifles and a tiffin' bomb was recovered after a fierce gun battle between a DRG team and Naxals. Police officer said the the identity of the killed Naxals is yet to be ascertained.

Recently, six persons, including 5 security personnel, were injured in an IED blast in Bijapur district of Bastar division this morning. The injured included four BSF Jawans and one Jawan of District Reserve Guard- DRG.
