New Delhi, Nov 27: “Purpose of this mission is to increase self-reliance by reducing the transfer of technology and dependence on foreign companies for the technologies,” said Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while launching ‘Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti’ in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), here on Tuesday.

She said there is keenness among people to return from Silicon Valley and do startups in India.

Sitharaman urged the defence ministry to connect innovators with manufacturers. Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti should take all new ideas to its logical conclusions. "More is needed to nurture innovation in defence and translate it into commercially viable solutions", said the minister in her tweet.

“Mission 'Raksha Gyan Shakti', a visionary & ambitious effort of MoD focuses on training officials in IPR regions & encouraging IPR culture in defence as a lesson from past wherein in spite of great tech contributions to Industry (like ICT), due credit was not given to worthy innovators,” said spokesperson of Defence Ministry in his tweet.
