Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram witness 65 percent voting..!

 

 

New Delhi, November 28 : The voting for assembly elections scheduled in the states Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram have been closed. The duo witnessed 50 percent of the total polling by 3 pm today and that raised to 65 percent as per the Election Commission. The one phased election voting procedure started at 8 am in the morning and ceased at 5 pm today. The counting of the votes in all the states will be followed on 11^th of December this year.

 

BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia were among early voters. However, Sumitra Mahajan while voting in Indore, Madhya Pradesh said, “I have come here to grant my vote. Voting is the basic right of every individual in this democratic nation and everyone should use this right.” The number of youth voting this time has increased as compared to the earlier years.

Madhya Pradesh is voting to elect 230 seats for which as many as 2,899 candidates, including 1,094 independents, are in the fray. BJP is contesting all the 230 seats, while the Congress has fielded 229 candidates, leaving one seat for its ally Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD).

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in office since 2005, is seeking re-election from Budhni in Sehore district. The BSP has fielded 227 candidates, while the SP is contesting on 52 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party however has fielded 208 candidates for contesting the Madhya Pradesh elections for the first time.

Elections to the 40-member Assembly in Mizoram, which has a population of about 1 million, is significant for the BJP, which considers it to be the 'final frontier' in the region. The Congress and the Mizo National Front have fielded 40 candidates each, while the BJP is contesting in 39 seats. The Zoram Peoples Movement, an alliance formed by two political parties and four groups, is contesting in 35 seats.
