Epitome of oneness; #StatueOfUnity soon to be included in school syllabus index!

Ahmedabad, November 28: On visit to Statue of Unity, union school education secretary Rina Ray said the government is planning for tours of school children to Statue of Unity from schools across India. Ray said she was in Gujarat for a purpose to study 'Gunotsav' annual inspection drive organized every year by the State government. She said the Centre plans to expand Gujarat's Gunotsav initiative to entire country across all States and Union Territories.
 
 
She said talks are going on with NCERT for inclusion of Statue of Unity - the tallest statue in the world in school syllabus.
 
Sharing the details of recent directives issued by the Centre regarding weight of school bag, she said, the weight of school bag for class 3-5 students must of be greater than 2-3 kg, school bag weight for class-1 students is capped at 1.5 kg. Class 1-2 students can't be assigned any kind of homework. They should be taught languages and maths. Class 3-4 students can be taught languages, environment science and maths.
 
For strengthening the quality outcomes, the government of Gujarat launched a programme called Gunotsav, or 'Celebrating Quality'. Therefore Gunotsav is defined as an accountability framework for quality of primary education which includes learning outcomes of children as well as co-scholastic activities, use of resources and community participation.
