Pune, November 29: Today being 400th birth anniversary of the Spanish Baroque painter Murillo, Google's logo features Murillo's oil painting "Two Women at a Window," created in the late 1650s. Today, his work is featured in several of the world's most-visited art galleries, including the Museo del Prado in Madrid and St. Petersburg's Hermitage Museum.

Murillo, known of his religious paintings, produced realist paintings for several religious orders in 17th-century Spain, including the Franciscans, and helped to create an art school in Seville.

Although best known for his religious works, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo also produced a considerable number of paintings of contemporary women and children. These lively, realist portraits of flower girls, street urchins, and beggars constitute an extensive and appealing record of the everyday life of his times.

"Renowned for his independent spirit, Murillo cultivated his own style of painting, incorporating Flemish and Venetian influences and evolving throughout his career," Google said.

Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists. This attempt by Google aids in extended information sharing, educating and updating the individual about some very important days and people.

Over time, the demand for doodles has risen in the U.S. and internationally. Creating doodles is now the responsibility of a team of talented illlustrators and engineers. For them, creating doodles has become a group effort to enliven the Google homepage and bring smiles to the faces of Google users around the world.
