Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin to head Telangana Congress working Committee

New Delhi/ Hyderabad, Nov 30: Ahead of the crucial Telangana assembly polls, Congress party today appointed Mohammed Azharuddin, former Indian Cricketer as the head of Telangana Congress Committee.

In 2009, the award-winning player started his political innings with Congress party and fought Lok Sabha poll 2009 from Moradabad segment in Uttar Pradesh. In 2014, Azharuddin moved to Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency but lost to BJP’s Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria.

A native of Hyderabad, the player turned politician is keen on Contesting upcoming general elections from Secunderabad Parliamentary. In 2014, Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya won this Lok Sabha seat.
