Bengaluru, Nov 5: Karnataka Dy Chief Minister G Parameshwara today clarified that the state government will ensure the hassle-free roll-out of the Tipu Jayanti which is scheduled on November 10. Speaking to the media here, G Parameshwara who also looks after the home department said that strict action will be taken against the lawbreakers.

Citing the reason of law and order, the Minister informed that all processions, both for and against have been banned. He further added that people should refrain from sharing provocative content on social media platforms in order to avoid community clashes.

Responding to Karnataka government’s move on state-sponsored Tipu Jayanti, Union Minister and firebrand leader Ananth Kumar Hegde asked the government official to drop his name from the invitee's list for the event.

In an official communication to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, condemning Congress- JD(S)government’s policy, Hegde slammed the coalition government for not listening to the people who are against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti. Terming Tipu Jayanti as anti-Hindu and anti-Kannada, BJP demanded the closure of the state-backed Tipu Jayanti and dubbed it as an attempt of appeasement politics to garner minority votes.

Earlier, Senior Karnataka BJP leader K S Eshwarappa had asked JD(S)-Congress coalition government to get rid of the state-sponsored Tipu Jayanthi celebrations. Speaking to the media, the former Dy Chief Minister stated that the principal opposition party will stage a massive protest against the move of the Karnataka government.

During Siddaramaiah led Congress Government on several occasion, political parties locked horns on the issue of Tipu Jayanthi celebration. Incidentally, HD Kumaraswamy was also not in favor of Tipu Jayanthi celebration.
