Geneva, DEC 10: Human Rights turns 70 today. Human Rights Day celebrated every year on 10th December, the day, United Nations General Assembly adopted and enforced ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ in 1948. This year it is 70th Anniversary of UDHR.

 

The UDHR is a landmark document that proclaimed the inalienable rights, which everyone is inherently entitled to as human being regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political and other options, national or social origin, property, birth and any other status. 
It is most translated document of world, it is available in 500 languages. This document stands for enduring universality of its perennial values of Equality, Justice and Human Dignity.

 

 

Today, with the motto of #STANDUP4HUMANRIGHTS, the world is celebrating this day with enthusiasm and responsibility toward Human Rights.

 

Leading up to the 10th December 2018, the actual date of 70th anniversary of Universal Declaration, Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is launching a ‘Month of Activation’, across the globe to spotlight the centrality of rights to daily lives of people, and aim to engage diverse audience around the world calling on them for Human Rights.

 

UN information centers are organizing events and activities in Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Czech Republic, France, Geneva, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Madagascar, Myanmar, Namibia, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, The US and Zambia.

 
Today, in the UN Headquarters , the panel discussion going to held on ‘The relevance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to today’s cutting-edge human rights issue of inequality, climate change and new technologies.
