All party meeting set before the winter session by Rajyasabha chairman; Centre to conduct the same ahead of the session

New Delhi, December 10: Rajyasabha chairman M Venkhaiah Naidu has called an all party meeting today in the national capital. This particular meeting marked a day before the winter session starts aims to build the consensus for smooth conduct of proceeding in the upper house of the parliament. The winter session starts on 11th of December this year and will conclude on 8th of January,2019 constituting 20 working days.
 
However, the top opposition leaders will also be meeting in Delhi today to chalk out a joint strategy for the winter session of the parliament. The meeting significantly comes a day before the results of the Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram assembly polls are scheduled to be announced.
 
TDP chief and Andra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu is co-ordinating the meeting. He has invited the leaders of all the non BJP parties. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Soniya Gandhi are also likely to attend the meeting during which the opposition is also expected to discuss forging a grand alliance in 2019 Loksabha polls.
 
NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Mamta Banerjee, Farooq Abdullah, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yecheri, BSP chief Mayawati, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Samajwadi party’s Akhilesh Yadav are expected to attend the meeting.
 

 
 
The Centre has also called an all party meeting to ensure smooth conduct on proceedings during the session. At the customary session meeting called by the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, Prime Minister usually lays the Government’s agenda and seeks the opposition support for smooth transaction of official business.
 
Meanwhile, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to chair the meeting called by the BJP’s parliamentary party executive, ahead of the winter session of the parliament . However, tomorrow Loksabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan will be meeting all floor leaders of all the parties in the Loksabha.
 
 
The Winter Session of Parliament usually starts in November. However, it would be the second year in a row when it would begin in December. The session was delayed this year due to the assembly elections in five states.
