Issues related to the development of country should be raised: PM Modi appeals to all parties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said issues relating to people and development of country should be discussed during the winter session of Parliament. He was talking after an all-party meeting in New Delhi today.

All the leaders observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to former Cabinet Minister Late Shri H.N.Ananthkumar.

Speaking to reporters after the All-party meeting, Parliamentary affairs minister Narendra Singh Tomar informed this.  Tomar said the winter session will have 20 sittings.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will meet the leaders of political parties tomorrow to ensure smooth conduct of proceedings in the Lower House.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu's meeting with leaders for a smooth functioning of the Upper House is underway. Opposition parties will also hold a meeting to discuss their strategy to counter the government.

There are 23 bills listed for consideration and passage during the session. Another 20 new bills are listed for introduction, consideration, and passage. Two bills have been listed for withdrawal during the session.

Three Bills to replace Ordinances namely (i) the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Ordinance, 2018;

(ii) the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018; and

(iii) The Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 are slated to be passed during the ensuing Winter Session.

some important pending legislation expected to be considered and passed during the Session are (i) The Dentists (Amendment) Bill, 2017;

(ii) The Consumer Protection Bill, 2018;

(iii) The New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Bill, 2018;

(iv) The Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Amendment Bill, 2017;

(v) The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2018;

(vii) The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018
