Very happy to see security forces motivated towards sports, says the Vice President on the occasion of 67th All India Police Athletics

New Delhi, December 11: 67th All India Police Athletics Championship was inaugurated by the Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu on December 10 in New Delhi. Around 1,100 participants from the police forces from all over India will be competing in the championship.

”It is a very pleasant feeling to stand here on the occasion of 67th All India Police Athletics and I congratulate every athlete who has come here from all corners of the country. I am honoured to be a part of this great and gracious occasion”, said the Vice President while addressing the inaugural event.

 

”Athletics is known as the mother of sports. In this game you will not only be competing with other participants but with your own strengths as well”, said Naidu while addressing the participants.

The Vice President also talked about the contribution of the police forces in the progress of the nation. “In past few years, Police players have created a good name in many sports including national sports, Asian cup and Olympics. The have also contributed in motivating the nation for sports. I am grateful that Police sports control board has been active in providing all the necessary facilities and regular training to the players and keeping them motivated. I am sure that this championship will bring a feeling of unity, harmony and brotherhood in the police force”, said Naidu.

“Sports is the need of hour because sports make people healthy, strong and stable and it will bring the nation towards prosperity. A healthy nation can become a wealthy nation but there is no guarantee that a wealthy nation can become a healthy nation. Physical activity will enhance mental activity also. That is the secret behind the health of healthy people and they can become wealthy people also”, he further added.

Naidu also quoted the words of Prime Minister Modi while addressing the event. “Our prime minister has given us advice that ‘reform, perform and transform’. Transformation for the betterment of the lives of the people is the purpose of this advice. Keeping that in mind, we should all focus on our respective spheres and see to it that we also achieve something special”, he added.

 

“I really compliment our forces for taking up this competitive program in order to encourage the people who are working in various departments. It is a good initiative. I compliment the organisers and various departments of the forces who are working for the sake of the nation. I really salute the forces who are working for the betterment of the country. You are all responsible for the unity and integrity for the safety and security of the country. For this you must be healthy, strong, stable and bold so you can reach further goals and also take the country to higher levels”, Naidu concluded.
