For efficient irrigation ecosystem, Karnataka will adopt Israel model: Kumaraswamy

Belagavi/ Bengaluru, Dec 11: In order to add value to the existing irrigation ecosystem, Kumaraswamy led Karnataka government will soon adopt the drip irrigation developed by Israel.

Recently, a ministerial panel comprised M C Managuli, N H Shivashankar, Bandeppa Kashemapur, Cooperation Secretary Manoj Rajan submitted a study report on the use of micro-irrigation model crafted by Israel.

As quoted by The Hindu, the report suggests more emphasis on the effective implementation of rainwater harvesting and also a policy backing for water-intensive crops. It also suggested a subsidy regime for the development of micro-irrigation.

On Monday, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy declared that the state government will soon prepare an action plan to adopt Israel technology.
