New Delhi Dec, 11: For safeguarding the interest of women married to NRIs and further strengthening the redressal mechanism, a detailed proposal will soon be placed before the Cabinet for its approval. Ministry of Women and Child Development tweeted on its posts. It further states that, The Integrated Nodal Agency (INA), which is chaired by Sh. Rakesh Srivastava, @Secretary_WCD, has been issuing Look-Out Circulars to absconding husbands in cases of #NRImarriages. Till now, 8 LoCs have been issued and 33 passports have been suspended/impounded by MEA.
To act as a deterrent, @MinistryWCD has also developed a portal for registration of #NRImarriages. It will also be linked to all Registrars of marriages in the country for automatic updating of details.

Ministry elaborated further that, the problem of women being abandoned in #NRImarriages is a serious issue. For the first time, @MinistryWCD, Ministry of External Affairs @MEAIndia, and Ministry of Home Affairs are providing coordinated support to women facing problems in their marriage to NRIs.

The @MinistryWCD and @NCWIndia are taking every possible step to protect women in #NRImarriages. We serve as a nodal point of contact for grievances received from women on the dedicated email address nricell-ncw@nic.in and coordinate the redressal system.
