New Delhi DEC 12: Union Minister of HRD, Shri Prakash Javadekar inaugurated “Kala Utsav” at Bal Bhavan, New Delhi.

 

Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

 

Kala Utsav National Competition was launched in 2015 with a view to promote arts in education by nurturing and show casing the artistic talents of school students, children with special needs too will have the opportunity to display their talents, India has a long tradition of art and artistic practices, in spite of it, a uniform process of identifying artistic talents in school education is yet to be developed, so the creation a platform for students is main aim of this initiative.

 

Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) recognizes the importance of aesthetics and artistic experiences for secondary-level students, which play a major role in creating awareness of India’s rich cultural heritage and its vibrant diversity.

 

In the context of education of Arts (Music, Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts and Crafts), the initiative is guided by the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework 2005 (NCF-2005).

 

About 370 children from all States (except Karnataka) and Union Territories will participate in the four-day national level competition that will be held in Vocal, Music, Instrumental Music, Dance and Painting.

 
One girl and one boy from each State/Union Territory will compete in each of the competitions. Students representing Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Samiti will also be competing.
