New Delhi, Dec 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Partners Forum in New Delhi today.

Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Upendra Yadav, First Lady of Belize Kim Simplis Barrow, President of Inter-Parliamentary Union Ms. Gabriela Cuevas Barron, Chairperson of Global She Decides Movement Tikhala Itaye, Union Health Minister J P Nadda addressed the inaugural session.

The Partners’ Forum is a global health partnership launched in September 2005 to accelerate efforts to reduce child and maternal mortality, improve adolescent, child, newborn and maternal health.






Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed this forum today. He said,

From across the World Partner’s forum 2018, it is an only partnership that we get us through our goals partnership between citizens, the partnership between communities, the partnership between countries. The sustainable development agenda is a reflection of this.

Every country takes efforts to progress for a better tomorrow. PM Modi take a note of efforts made by the member countries. He elaborates, Countries move stand belong along efforts. They committed to empowering our communities, improving health and education, ending poverty, boosting economic growth. Ultimately leaving no one behind the health of mothers will determine the health of the children and the health of the children will determine the health of our tomorrow.

We have gathered to discuss and deliberate ways to improve the health and wellbeing of mothers and children. The outcomes of our discussion today will have a great impact on our tomorrow. The partners’ forum vision is with the line of India’s ancient wisdom ‘Vasudev Kutumbakam’. The world with one family. It is also with my government philosophy of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’. This means collective efforts and partnership for inclusive growth.

Prime Minister also explained efforts taken by NDA Government for the wellbeing of women, children and overall health of citizens. He said The partnership for newborn and child health is a unique and effective platform. We are not making a case for better health; we are also making an argument for faster growth.

As the world searches for a new way to ensure rapid growth ensuring good health of women is one of the best ways of doing so. We have achieved a lot of progress in the last few years. A lot yet remains to be done. From a bigger budget to better outcomes and from mindset change to monitoring there are lots to be done. The India story is one of hope, hope that roadblocks can be overcome. Hope that behavioral change can be ensured. Hope that rapid progress can be achieved.

When the millennium development goals were to agree on India had one the highest mortality rates for women and children. Which sustain momentum? India is on course to attend the SGD targets for maternal and child health, much ahead of the agreed date of 2030. India was one of the first countries to advocate focus attention on adolescence.

Implement expensive health promotion. Our efforts ensure that they get due recognization in the global strategy for women, children, and adolescent. ‘Yatra Nariyansta pujante,Tatra devata’ means where women are honored divinity blossoms there.

Modi gave a detailed program followed in India for women and child health

India’s immunization program is a subject close to my heart is being featured success story in this forum. Under mission ‘Indradhanush’ we reach 32.8 million children 8.4 million pregnant women over the last three years. We have also increased the numbers of vaccines under the universal immunization program from 7 to 12. Our vacancies now cover life-threatening diseases like pneumonia and diarrhea.

When NDA assume office in 2014, we were losing more than 44000 mothers annually during childbirth.

‘Pradhanmantri Surakha Matrutva Abhiyan’ to provide best possible care to mother during pregnancy. We called upon doctors to pledge one day of service per month to this campaign. Under this campaign, 16 million mother and fetus health care checkups have been performed. The country has 25 million newborns. Our robot facility based newborn care system which provides care to one million newborn babies through 794 states of the hearts care units to serve as a special successful model. As a result of our interventions, 840 additional lives of children under five are being saved each day in India as compared to 4 years back.

A child nutrition is being addressed through the ‘Poshan Abhiyan’ brings together various keeps and interventions working towards a common goal of malnutrition free India.

We are implementing ‘Rashriya Bal Swasthya Kartyakram’ has provided 800 million health checkups and free referral treatment to 20 million children. In the last 4 years. One thing that constantly worried us was high out of pocket expenditure on families to avail medical care. We, therefore, launch the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’. It has two fork strategies

Prime Minister explained how different schemes are being implemented in India for better health of the nation.

First, provision of comprehensive family care at a facility near the community including healthy lifestyle and yoga through the health and wellness centers.

Fit India and Eat right moments are also important parts of our strategy.

The community will also be able to receive free screening and care for common disease including hypertension, diabetes and three common cancers of the breast, cervical and oral. Patients will receive Free medicines and diagnosis support close to their homes. We plan to start 150 thousand wellness centers by 2022.

The other arm of Ayushman Bharat is the Pradhanmantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) this provides cashless health insurance cover up to rupees 500 thousand per family per year covering 500 million citizens who are most poor and vulnerable. This number is almost equal to the population of Canada, Mexico and the United States have taken together.

We have already provided free treatment worth rupees 700 crores to 500 thousand families under this scheme within 10 weeks of its launch. Today being Global Universal Health Coverage Day I again state that we will continue to work providing universal health coverage to all.

With 1 billion registered social health activist or Aasha workers and 232 thousand auxiliary nurse midwives, we have a formidable force of women frontline health workers. They are the strength of our program.

Ujjwala yojana provided a cleaner cooking option to 58 billion women. Swachha Bharat Mission on the war footing. Sanitation coverage in rural areas has increased from 39% to 95%.

‘Beti Bacho Beti Padhao’,’ Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana’ with more than 12.6 million accounts make secure the future of girl child. Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana expected to benefit more than 50 million pregnant women and lactating mother. This scheme unable direct benefit transfer to those Bank accounts to compensate for the good health of concern women.

Maternity leave has increased maternity leave to 26 weeks from12 weeks at the earlier for better health.
