New Delhi, Dec 12: A day after Shaktikanta Das’s elevation as RBI Governor, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy came out and opposed the move of Modi government.

As quoted by ANI, the Rajya Sabha MP accused the veteran officer of massive corruption. “ I don't know why this was done, I have written a letter to PM against this decision.” He mentioned.

Questioning former Economic Affairs Secretary’s role in graft cases involving senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram, Swamy claimed that the Tamil Nadu cadre officer was instrumental in assisting Chidambaram in order to get rid of court cases.

On Tuesday, after the sudden resignation of Urjit Patel, the Central government appointed Shaktikanta Das for the top job of Reserve Bank of India governor.

A man behind Narendra Modi’s pet prestigious GST regime, Das will be the 25th governor of RBI. Post-retirement, he was entrusted with the responsibility of Fifteenth Finance Commission under the Chairmanship of NK Singh.
