Janakpur, December 12: Thousands of devotees from India and Nepal including hundreds of Sadhus attending the “Swayamvar” and marriage ceremony of the Lord Rama and Sita at Barah Bigha ground in Nepal, the Vivah panchami festival on Wednesday is also graced up by the presence of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Meanwhile, lakhs of devotees including Sadhus and Saints will also participate in the celebrations.

He was received at the airport by Chief Minister of Province 2 Lalbabu Raut, Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri and other dignitaries. After arriving in the historic city of Janakpur, Yogi Adityanath offered deep prayers to the Janaki temple. Later he proceeded to Madhes Bhawan, the official residence of Province 2 Chief Minister and meet senior leaders from Center and Province 2. The Uttar Pradesh CM is further set to attend the Mithila cultural programme.

Vivah Panchami is a festival celebrating the wedding of Rama and Sita. It is observed on the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in the Agrahayana month [November-December] as per Mithila Calendar. The day is observed as Vivah Utsav of Sita and Rama in temples and sacred places associated with Sri Rama in Mithila region of Bharat and Nepal. According to mythology Lord Rama married Goddess Sita on Vivah Panchami. The festival is observed in Janakpur every year to mark the occasion.

It is however widely estimated that after Yogi Adityanath visits Nepal as ‘Bharatiya’, the number of tourists will get boosted. This is on the grounds when PM Narendra Modi visited Janakpurdham on 24th of May this year, the number of Hindu pilgrims from India increased. Nepal probably is set to talk to CM Yogi to seek assistance that how the Bharat-Nepal tourism can be managed and be promoted to an optimum level.

This festival marks as one of the unique example of age old strong social, religious and cultural bonding between the people of India and Nepal.
