No government funds for Krishnaraja Sagar development: Min DK Shivakumar

Belagavi, Dec 14: Karnataka Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said that prestigious Cauvery memorial and Krishnaraja Sagar development scheme will not disturb the ongoing irrigation project in the state.

Responding to the issue raised by the leader of the Opposition B.S. Yeddyurappa, Shivakumar reiterated that required money will be raised through crowdfunding and hard earned money of taxpayers will be used for the same.

HD Kumaraswamy led JD(S)- Congress government has decided to build a mega memorial of Mother Cauvery. The proposed 125-feet structure of Mother Cauvery will be erected near Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir in Mandya district.

With the whopping budget of Rs 1,500 crore, the memorial will be built on 400 acres of land. In order to boost the tourism sector, the state government is working on a plan to develop the Krishnaraja Sagar region on the lines of the famous Disneyland park.
