French Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian meets PM Modi discussing developments on bilateral grounds

New Delhi, December 15: With the arrival of French Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian in India and enhancing the bilateral relations, the French Minister on his next visit after EAM Sushma Swaraj met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two ministers discussed the various developments leveling up their strong relations.

 

On meeting PM Modi, French Minister Le Drian briefed the Prime Minister on recent developments in the bilateral relationship, and the French perspective on regional and global issues. Prime Minister Modi welcomed the strengthening of bilateral ties in all spheres, including defence, space, counter-terrorism, maritime security, and civil nuclear cooperation. 

Conveying heartfelt condolence for the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Strasbourg in France, PM Modi asserted that India stands with France in the fight against terrorism. PM Modi also warmly recalled the State Visit of President Macron to India in March 2018, as well as their recent interaction on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Argentina.

On the bilateral front, meeting External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, the two countries have have agreed on deepening their strategic partnership through cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, civil nuclear, defence and security, space, trade and economic sectors.
